It's Catholic Schools Week.  There are many fun activities planned.  We will have lessons as they fit into our schedule.  The 6yh graders have a Social Studies test on Chatper 9 on Thursday.  They have a Math test on Thursday, p. 248. 

SUBJECT	Week of 1/30-2/3
Reading	The students will read Chapters 9-13.  They will read about the Soo and write letters to tourist centers in Canada about particular cities. They will examine the routes of cargo ships on the Great Lakes.  They will write a legend explaining the origin of weather.
Spelling	The students will choose twenty words from their Spelling list.  They will define the words and use them in sentences. They will define a list of vocabulary words. They will practice for the Spelling Bee.
Language	The students will define, identify, and use demonstrative and comparative adjectives.
Computer Lab	The students will access the Where is Paddle? website.
Writing	The students will write a legend about the origin of weather.
Math	The students will explain and use the addition properties as they pertain to fracations.  They will subtract mixed numerals.  They will estimate mixed numerals.
Religion	The students will explain the stories of Samson and Ruth.  They will explain the life lessons we learn from the experiences of these two Old Testament people.
Social Studies	The students will explain the beginnings of Christianity and the decline of the Roman Empire.
Science	The students will explain how dinasaurs could have evolved into creatures better able to survive.  They will explain how the structure of an animal can help us to determine their living habits.

Our Dimes for Diapers service project continues through Catholic Schools Week.
